Petra is one of the world’s most well-known archaeological sites, located in the southwestern desert of the African country of Jordan.
Previously the capital of the Nabatean Kingdom, it was built way back around 300 B.C.
The only way to get to the city is through a narrow, eye of the needle canyon called Al Siq, and once through you will find some amazing artifacts of world history, like ancient tombs and temples carved right out of sandstone cliffs. The sandstone is pink, giving Petra its nickname “Rose City.”
Among many other awesome sights, you can’t miss Al Khazneh, a Greek style temple with huge columns carved into a cliff face. You’ve Never Seen A City Like This One Before!
