Jerash, a remote city located in the African country of Jordan, is actually the best preserved site of Roman ruins outside of Italy.

In celebration of its heritage, the city hosts regular re-enactments of Roman battles, in which soldiers demonstrate age-old tactics, weapons, and equipment.
